Food businesses may continue to operate as food take aways and delivery sevice only. Collection of food may continue with controls implemented to limit the amount of people entering an area (social distancing) and ensure that customers maintain a two metre distance away from each other to reduce potential spread of virus.
Normal and required food and personal hygiene measures must also be maintained as per the Food Regulations. i.e. do not work within a food environment if you have a cough, cold, vomitting or diarrhoea. Ensure you wash hands regularly and particuarly after going to the toilet, after smoking and after handling raw food and before handling ready to eat food. etc.
To further protect Public Health during these difficult times, Food Officers have contacted all caterers and food businesses who operate to establish suitable controls are in place to protect the consumer when buying food.
We are also checking social media and contacting those witnessed advertising food for sale in our district to ensure controls are in place and those selling food comply with the law.
