Ashfield holiday activities and food programme (HAF)

This summer there are a range of activities taking place in Ashfield for children and young people.

The activities have been set up part of the initiative started and championed by Marcus Rashford and his Children's Holiday Clubs, offering holiday activities and food in summer 2021.

The activities will take place during these dates:

  • Monday 2 - Friday 6 August
  • Monday 9 - Friday 13 August
  • Monday 16 - Friday 20 August
  • Monday 23 - Friday 27 August

The Holiday activities and food programme is in association with the Department for Education and Nottinghamshire County Council.

Who is eligible?

Children and young people eligible or accessing free school meals can access these programmes free of charge; All you need to do is let the organiser know.

If your child/young person isn’t eligible for free school meals, they may still be able to attend the activities. The cost will differ, dependant on the activity.

You will also be asked if your child/young person has SEND or additional needs. Please let the organiser know if they have an existing Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, receiving Additional Family Needs funding, or High-Level Needs funding.

The activities will be popular so please only book on to activities that you know your child/young person can attend. All activities must be booked in advance. If for any reason your child cannot attend the activity or you no longer require a place, please let the organiser know.

Ashfield Feel Good Families Play Fest

Feel Good Families, alongside Ashfield District Council are proud to announce 3 Play Fests taking place in the summer from 10am – 2pm. These family activities will be provide fun activities for the whole family and are free of charge for everyone to attend.

Children who are eligible for free school meals, aged between 5 – 16, will be able to get a free packed lunch.

Learn to Brick Lay Day - Kier Construction Ltd

Kier Construction are currently building a brand-new leisure facility in Kirkby and they are offering an exciting opportunity to learn all about construction and develop your own brick laying skills.

This opportunity is open to young people aged 13 – 16 years old who are eligible for free school meals. A packed lunch will be provided. Places are limited.

Everyone Active – Summer Activity Scheme

Lammas and Hucknall Leisure Centres are offering 16 days of fun activity during the summer holidays. This will include multi-sports activities, swimming sessions (please provide swimwear), and children can go ice skating at Lammas.

The cost is £16.80 or free to children eligible for free school meals. A packed lunch will be provided.

Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday  from 2 August to 27 August 2021.

Locations:

  • Lammas Leisure Centre - 8:30am – 12:30pm
  • Hucknall Leisure Centre - 1:00pm – 5:00pm

Freedom Foundation – Release Holiday Club

Freedom Factory are offering a 4-day camp at Festival Hall, Ashfield Rugby Club and Watnall Road Baptist Church. Throughout the 4 days, you’ll take part in singing, song writing and street dance.

This activity is for primary school children aged 7 – 11 who are eligible for free school meals. A packed lunch will be provided. This is a unique, never happened before in Ashfield opportunity that’s likely to fill up fast.

  • Ashfield Rugby Club - 9:30am – 1:30pm week commencing 9 August
  • Watnall Road Baptist Church - 10:00am – 2:30pm week commencing 16 August
  • Festival Hall - 8:30am – 12:30pm week commencing 21 August

Creation Station

Fancy getting creative this summer? Then this fun filled day is just for you. The arts and craft themed days will take place on 3 days across the summer holidays with limited spaces, so you need to be quick. The activities are tailored towards children aged 5 – 11 years old.

They are free to children eligible for free school meals, and include a packed lunch.

Nottinghamshire Youth Service

Nottinghamshire Youth Service are offering a number of activities across 4 venues in Ashfield. All sessions are for 9 – 19 year olds, includes a meal and are free to young people eligible for free school meals.

Next Level Sports

Next Level Sports offer safe and fun activity camps all over Nottinghamshire and will be in Ashfield for the first time this summer.

Their activities include football, dodgeball, hockey, cricket, tennis and so much more. The camps are aimed at 5 – 11 year olds and will take place in 3 venues in Ashfield from 9:30am – 1:30pm.

The camps are free of charge to children eligible for free school meals and include a packed lunch.

Joker Entertainment – Circus Skills

The circus is coming to town! Children can take part in 3 activities; circus skills, hoola hoop megastructure and bubble workshop, as well as receive a packed lunch.

This is all free for children and young people eligible for free school meals.

Jimmy Beans and Bizzy Beans Soft Play

A 4-hour session for 5 – 10 year olds, including a meal, all free for children eligible for free school meals. Sessions are available Monday – Friday, 9:30 – 5:45pm, between 2 – 27 August.

A parent/guardian must stay for the whole session. Booking is essential.

Teamworks Karting – Indoor Karting and Laser Tag

Indoor karting, laser tag, giant board games, arts, crafts and more are available during two sessions being held; one session for 8 - 11 year olds and one session for 11 - 16 year olds.

Free to children and young people eligible for free school meals. This opportunity also includes a hot meal. A parent/guardian must remain on site.

A parent/guardian must stay for the whole session. Booking is essential.

Green Scene Forest Schools

Do you love to be outside?  If so, this will be a great experience for you.  It will include environmental arts and crafts, exploring nature, den building, and cooking lunch of an open fire.
