The Government has introduced a four year rent reduction scheme which has resulted in Ashfield District Council having around £8m less to spend on our housing services and upkeep of our homes. This means we have to make changes to the way our services are run.
Our proposed change is to bring in a 70p per week service charge for tenants, which will contribute to the cost of providing the following services:-
- Grounds maintenance/Estate Management of housing open space
- Community Safety
The amenity charge has been calculated on the basis of the services that we currently provide. The charge is only a contribution to the charges we incur and does not cover the full costs of the services we provide. A list of Frequently Asked Questions can be found here.
Ashfield District Council housing tenants will receive a letter outlining the details of the charges, and are invited to make comments here on the proposed change by 29th December 2017.
