Ollie Hynd’s record breaking double gold medal achievement at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games was celebrated with the unveiling of a unique golden street sign at Wickerwood Drive, Kirkby-in-Ashfield on Saturday.
Following a Rio Celebration event in Kirkby town centre, Wickerwood Drive residents were invited to an official surprise unveiling of the street signs.
Organised by Ashfield District Councils Community Wellbeing Team, it is one of many events that have been held to celebrate the success of Ashfield’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
Ashfield District Council Leader, Cllr Cheryl Butler said “What a wonderful role model Ollie is. His excellent attitude and dedication to his sport is fantastic.
"He works so hard to achieve his goals, sets a fantastic example to others and therefore deserves as much recognition as possible. I'm so pleased we have been able to offer this unique reminder of his time at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.”
