Hundreds ‘Angling’ for a Bargain on Store’s Opening Day

Tuesday 18 June

Angling Direct has opened its doors at its brand new flagship store in Sutton in Ashfield.

Angling Direct is firmly established as the leading fishing tackle retailer in the country with over 30 years in the fishing industry.

At a grand opening event on Saturday 15th June, over 100 shoppers queued outside its brand new home on Forest Street in Sutton Town Centre.

Leader of Ashfield District Council, Councillor Jason Zadrozny said: “It’s fantastic that a well-established business such as Angling Direct has chosen Ashfield to host its flagship store.”

Councillor Zadrozny was speaking during a tour of the new store on opening day. He added: “Looking around it is clear that the company have trust in Sutton as they have invested heavily in the store, adding a mezzanine floor and state-of-the-art fixtures and fittings.

“We welcome investments such as this with open arms! We are now seeing national retailers like this pop up across the district and it’s a brilliant addition to the range of independent retailers in our town centres.”

Store Manager Rob Kerry said: “To see so many people queuing up the street at 8am on a Saturday morning is a great feeling for me, it makes all the hard work worth it.

“We have plans to encourage more young local people to get involved in fishing in Sutton and we’re looking forwards to working closely with clubs and individuals in the angling community here in Ashfield.”
