Adapting council homes

If you are a Council tenant and you or a member of your household needs adjustments or adaptations to your home to make it suitable for use please contact us. The Aids and Adaptations Policy  sets out the help the Council is able to provide. Please note, the Council will not authorise the installation of grab handles in any area over a bath. If difficulties are being experienced accessing a bath safely, then Occupational Therapy will need to be contacted and a bathing needs assessment completed.

Aids and adaptations are split into 3 groups

  • Small scale adaptations – this will typically include fitting a key safe or a grab rail. Applications can be made direct to the Council by tenants in need of help.
  • Large scale adaptations – typically includes a wetroom or a stair lift. Referrals are made via Nottinghamshire County Council’s Occupations Therapy Team
  • Major adaptations – typically includes a ground floor extension or through-floor lift. Referrals are made via Nottinghamshire County Council’s Occupational Therapy Team
