Sleeping on the streets

We are committed to minimising rough sleeping and ensuring that options are available to ensure that no one has to sleep rough.

If you are rough sleeping or are worried you may have to sleep on the streets soon:

  • Contact the Housing Options Team
  • Contact the Framework Street Outreach Team on 0800 066 53 56

The Street Outreach Team can help you to:

  • Find safe and secure accommodation
  • Access treatment for any drug, alcohol and mental health problems
  • Access medical help, for example with leg ulcers
  • Reconnect with family members
  • Return to an area you have lived in before or to your home country
  • Claim whatever benefits you may be entitled to

During the winter months (December – March), a number of churches in Mansfield open a winter shelter for single people, the Housing Options Team can refer you for a place at the shelter.

During severe weather (usually when the temperature is forecast to fall below 0 degrees Celsius for at least 3 nights), the Severe Weather Emergency protocol may be put into action. Under the SWEP, we will help everyone who has nowhere to stay to access emergency accommodation

If you have seen someone rough sleeping:

  • Contact the Housing Options Team
  • Contact the Framework Street Outreach Team on 0800 066 53 56

The Street Outreach Team will visit the area where you have seen someone rough sleeping and can help them to:

  • Find safe and secure accommodation
  • Access treatment for any drug, alcohol and mental health problems
  • Access medical help, for example with leg ulcers
  • Reconnect with family members
  • Return to an area they have lived in before or to their home country
  • Claim whatever benefits they may be entitled to

If you would like to support the work of the Street Outreach Team, you can make a donation

There are also a number of churches in the area that support the winter shelter, operate food banks, provide second hand furniture, offer free meals and more that accept donations.
