ASHFIELD LOCAL PLAN SUBMISSION AND EXAMINATION

The Ashfield Local Plan Examination Hearings, held between 2nd October and 12th October 2017, have concluded. 

As part of the examination, the Inspector has identified a number of Main Modifications to rectify issues of legal compliance and/or soundness with the Local Plan.  The Inspector is now inviting representations on the proposed Main Modifications and will also take into account any comments received in relation to the supporting documents.

Submission

On 24th February 2017 the Ashfield Local Plan Publication, including supporting evidence and consultation responses, was submitted to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (via The Planning Inspectorate). This is the Plan the Council wishes to adopt as the Development Plan for Ashfield District. The Council’s Submission Statement is available to view:

INSPECTOR

Planning Inspector Simon Berkeley BA MA MRTPI has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to undertake an independent Examination of the Local Plan to determine whether the Ashfield Local Plan is legally compliant and sound.

 The Inspector has produced Guidance Notes to help people understand the process. Please contact the Programme Officer should you have any queries.

PROGRAMME OFFICER

Ian Kemp has been appointed as the Programme Officer for the Examination and will deal with all procedural, administrative and programming matters. He is independent from the Council and reports directly to the Inspector. All correspondence or queries relating to the examination should be directed to the Programme Officer.

HEARING SESSIONS, VENUE, TIMETABLE AND AGENDAS

Hearing sessions will commence at 9.30am on Monday 2nd October 2017 within the Council Chamber of Ashfield District Council, Council Offices, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottingham NG17 8DA. 

The venue is close to the town centre of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and a few minutes walk from the bus stops in the Town Centre.  Kirkby-in-Ashfield Railway Station (on the Robin Hood Line) is approximately 300 metres from the venue.   The Council is approximately 15 minutes drive from the M1 Junction 27 or Junction 28, follow the signs for Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Long stay car parking is available in the Town Centre at Hodgkinson Road.

The proposed Examination venue is on the ground floor, and is fully accessible.
