Council invites residents to Bag it! again

Following the success of the first Bag it! campaign, Ashfield District Council is inviting residents to leave out an extra bag of rubbish with their upcoming general waste collection.

The Bag it! campaign will roll out across the whole District WC 30th November. Leave one extra bag of general waste with your red lidded bin collection that week and we’ll collect it.

Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council said:

“Following the success of the last Bag it! campaign in May, where we received such positive feedback from residents, we’re rolling it out again allowing residents to get rid of an extra bag of waste before Christmas.
“Our waste crews have worked tirelessly since the start of the pandemic to ensure that all our waste services have continued to be delivered.  We are proud that we are the only Council in the whole of Nottinghamshire who have maintained a full bin collection service.”

The household waste must be bagged and not contain anything hazardous. Any waste related to coronavirus, for example tissues need to be double bagged and stored in your home for 72 hours in line with government guidelines to protect our staff.

Cllr David Martin, Cabinet Member for Streets, Parks and Town Centres adds:

“We want to thank residents for their continued support, we know residents appreciate everything our waste teams have done over the past eight months, and this is a big thank you to them.
“We’re also pleased to announce that we’ll be running a third Bag it! campaign between Christmas and New Year to help residents get rid of extra Christmas waste. This is all before the BIG Ashfield Spring Clean comes to the District again in February 2021!”
