Council works with residents to address waste problems

Following complaints Ashfield District Council has worked with residents in Hucknall to address waste and fly tipping problems.

Ongoing issues on Beardall Street, Hucknall resulted in the Council’s Community Safely and Environment teams visiting the area. The teams identified waste issues within the area and positively engaged with residents to identify those responsible for fly tipping and rubbish dumping.

A number of individuals received Community Protection Warnings and Prevention of Damage by Pest Act Notices requiring them to clean up their waste within an agreed timescale, with ongoing inspections taking place over the coming weeks.

Theresa Hodgkinson, Director for Place & Communities said:

“Fly tipping is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Ashfield District Council. Patrols will be undertaken by the Community Safety Team over upcoming weeks as part of our ongoing work to tackle rubbish dumping and fly tipping in the area.

“The Council is committed to making Ashfield a cleaner place to live, work and visit and this is just one way we are tackling waste issues in the District. Next week we launch our Environment Enforcement team who will focus on litter and dog fouling, and in the next few weeks we will be launching a campaign in our parks and greenspaces. Disposing of waste correctly is everyone’s responsibility and throughout the summer we’ll be working across the District to tackle this.”
