John Eastwood Hospice Trust charity shop opens in Sutton

The new John Eastwood Hospice shop, on Portland Square, Sutton, was officially opened on Tuesday 15th September by Council Leader, Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Chairman of Ashfield District Council, Cllr Andy Meakin, Sharon Williams, CEO of John Eastwood Hospice Trust and Jill Johnson, Shop Manager. 

John Eastwood Hospice, based in Sutton, believe in providing specialist palliative care in a warm and comforting environment at the hospice and in the community. The Hospice Trust are approaching their 30th anniversary after they first opened their doors to the first patient in 1991.

Sharon Williams, CEO of John Eastwood Hospice Trust, commented “We are delighted that we have opened our latest shop in Sutton, it is staffed by dedicated colleagues and volunteers, and is full of great quality goods. Since the pandemic, we have lost most of our usual fundraising events and fairs, so this shop is really important to us and our fundraising efforts.

“We welcome everyone to pop in and have a chat with us, we want to show people that the hospice is not just for end of life care; we will be with you for as long as you need us.”

 

Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of ADC, said “We are extremely proud to have John Eastwood Hospice in Ashfield, it provides incredible care and services for people who need it the most. So it is fantastic that they have been able to open a shop in Sutton to further support their amazing work.
“It has been a pleasure to officially open the new store, and I encourage everyone to head over to have a look at what is on offer. This shop is more than just bricks and mortar, it will provide social benefits because of people like Sharon and Jill, who put the heart and soul into the community.”
