Vandals target Kingsway Park, Kirkby

Earlier this week vandals broke onto Kingsway Park, Kirkby, and ruined two playing fields by driving a car several times across them.

Ashfield District Council’s Community Protection team are working with Nottinghamshire Police to find the people responsible for the damage.

Cllr Helen-Ann Smith, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Ashfield District Council, said “This kind of anti-social behaviour is totally unacceptable. These mindless vandals have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to two valued playing fields on Kingsway Park.
“This issue goes beyond the monetary cost to repair the damage; their reckless behaviour has ruined two fields which were enjoyed by residents everyday. The Council will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in Ashfield, and we are working closely with the police to ensure that we can find who is responsible for this.
“The Council’s Environment Team are working to fix the damage, by reseeding the areas, so that the playing fields can continued to be enjoyed by the community as part of their daily exercise during lockdown.”
