We have to inspect all food business and premises in the district on a regular basis to make sure standards are met, hygiene practices followed, and food is safe to eat. We offer a range of services to help food businesses achieve high ratings and follow the best practices.

Advisory visits and business advice

We can provide advice to new businesses over the telephone or by appointment at our offices. The first hour of advice is free and charged at a competitive rate if more time is needed.

We also carry out advisory visits ahead of inspections. Businesses who have an advisory visit and follow our recommendations regularly achieve a 5 star rating.

Advisory visits cost £60 plus VAT and can be paid for through our online system with a debit or credit card when completing the visit request form.

Food hygiene training

We provide accredited food standards training. This includes Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, and the refresher option for this award.

Courses are held at our offices in Urban Road, Kirkby in Ashfield, or at your premises if you have more than 10 delegates.

Our courses are accredited by Highfield, take place over one day, and cost £65 plus VAT.

Health certificates

These are sometimes known as export certificates and are needed if you are exporting food to another country. We can provide a letter to show you have been inspected.

The cost is £60 plus VAT. You can pay through our online system using a debit or credit card.
