New applicant knowledge test
Please read this information before beginning the test.
This knowledge test consists of 30 questions and is split into the following 3 sections:
Section 1
20 multiple-choice questions relating to the rules, regulations, requirements and standards that are in force for Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Drivers in the Ashfield District. You must answer each question by ticking in the relevant “A, B, C or D” box provided by the side of each possible answer.
You must answer a minimum of 16 questions correctly, or you will have failed the Knowledge Test.
Section 2
5 questions relating to your English language skills. You must provide your answer to each of the questions in the relevant boxes provided for you to enter your answer.
You must answer a minimum of 3 questions in such a way as for the Licensing Authority to deem your understanding of the English language to be of a satisfactory level, or you will have failed the Knowledge Test.
Section 3
5 questions relating to your numeracy skills. You must provide your answer to each of the questions in the relevant boxes provided for you to enter your answer.
You must answer a minimum of 3 questions correctly, or you will have failed the Knowledge Test.
All of the information needed to help you correctly answer the questions in Section 1 and Section 2 can be found within the Hackney Carriage & Private Hire (Dual) Driver Licence Application Pack.
You will also need a copy of your photographic identity to upload, to prove your ID, such as a copy of your passport, Citizen card or DVLA Driving Licence photo card.
After you have completed the test
We will notify you by email if you have passed, and your record will be updated accordingly.
We will notify you by email if you have failed, and you will need to keep retaking the Test until such time as you have passed it. The email notification will inform you about the arrangements you will need to make in order to retake the test. The fee for retaking the test is £44.00.
