Taxi licensing fees and charges consultation

On 11 December 2025, the Licensing Committee approved a New set of fees and charges for the licensing of Drivers, Vehicles, and Private Hire Operators, to hopefully come into effect.

We have not changed the current fees and charges since 2021. This is because we have made the processes to apply for licences very efficient, which has helped reduce the time it takes to process applications, meaning we can serve more people in less time.

The New fees and charges are solely to ensure that the Taxi Licensing function fully recovers its costs involved in the provision of the function, and so that the function is adequately staffed to serve the Taxi Trade and recovers the costs incurred in the time spent dealing with applications, because there are significantly more applicants and licence holders since we last reviewed the fees and charges.
