A fresh burst of flavour and creativity hits Portland Square this March
Ashfield District Council is excited to announce the return of the Food & Makers Market to Portland Square on Saturday 7 March 2026, a vibrant showcase of local talent, creativity and flavour right in the heart of Sutton.
The relaunched market will bring together an impressive mix of food producers, bakers, makers, crafters and independent traders. Visitors can expect everything from artisan bakes and street‑food favourites to handmade gifts, crafts and unique one‑off finds. It’s a chance to explore something new, support local businesses and enjoy a lively day out in one of Ashfield’s key town‑centre spaces.
In collaboration with Hello Marketplaces, the market forms part of the council’s ongoing work to boost footfall, support small businesses and create more reasons for people to visit and enjoy Sutton town centre.
Cllr Matt Relf, Executive Lead for Growth, Regeneration and Local Planning, said: “We are committed to regenerating our town centres to grow footfall, support local business and give residents great places where they want to spend time.
The relaunch of the Food & Makers Market gives local yet another reason to pop into Sutton town centre. It is a brilliant platform for small businesses to grow, connect with customers and showcase their talent. I can highly recommend people calling into this family-friendly market.
The food traders sell some very delicious wares, and the makers have beautiful gifts on sale. We’re excited to welcome everyone back to Portland Square this March, so come along and see what it is all about.”
The Food & Makers Market will run from 9am to 3pm on the first and third Saturday of the month, with trader announcements and sneak peeks being shared in the run‑up to the event on Ashfield District Council’s social media and the Ashfield Markets Facebook page.
