Applications open for a new Audit Committee Co-opted Member
Ashfield District Council is looking to appoint a co-opted independent non-voting member on its Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee is a key component of the Council’s corporate governance. It provides a high-level focus on the audit, assurance and reporting arrangements that underpin good governance and financial standards.
The co-opted member will serve alongside the 7 elected District Councillors appointed to the Audit Committee to assist the Council in maintaining high standards of corporate governance.
The co-opted member will have a keen interest in financial matters, ability to examine evidence and complex documentation, ask searching questions, and communicate effectively. The co-opted member must possess political awareness but have no formal political affiliation.
Practical experience in the financial and / or general management of businesses or public sector organisations and professional accountancy, audit, or risk management qualification is desirable but not essential.
In accordance with Part 7 of the Council’s Constitution, the co-opted member appointed to Audit Committee shall receive an allowance of £1,114.56 per annum (paid monthly) plus travel expenses.
