ASB Awareness Week 2026
Last week, during Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2026, Ashfield District Council’s Community Safety Team were out across the District engaging with residents.
In Kirkby town centre, CPOs found and seized an abandoned electric scooter next to Boyes, engaged with business owners and staff, and advised residents of how to report crime and ASB.
Over in Hucknall, the CPOs helped a rough sleeper in Hucknall Cemetery and referred him to Change Grow Live, the health and social care charity. They also discovered two fly tips on Wigwam Lane, both with evidence of who the rubbish belongs to. Both addresses, one in Arnold and one in Hucknall, will be visited by the team to establish a connection to the waste. Visible patrols were carried out in Hucknall Cemetery and Nabbs Lane Park, where dog owners were asked if they had receptacles for dog waste.
Engagement activities were undertaken on Portland Square, inside Asda, and in Kingsmill Hospital in Sutton, advising residents, businesses and hospital staff about ASB, as well as completing Feelings of Safety surveys.
Cllr Paul Grafton, Executive Lead Member for Community Safety and Crime Reduction said
“ASB Awareness Week is a great national initiative that we have used to engage the public and businesses regarding how to report ASB and criminal behaviour. Our Community Safety Team do a fantastic job of keeping our towns and communities safe, and this week just showcases the kind of work they do week in, week out”.
