Ashfield District Council’s largest housing development nearly complete
Top quality houses on Ashfield District Council’s largest development are nearly ready to welcome residents.
The 40 new homes on Hardwick Lane, Sutton, are now nearing completion, making this Ashfield District Council’s largest new housing site to date. They will soon be ready for Ashfield residents to apply for through the Council’s Homefinder scheme.
The scheme includes 30 houses, two bungalows and eight flats, with two homes having a fourth bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor for families where someone is a wheelchair user.
The homes are built to the highest standards, with a clear focus on sustainability, the environment and being cheaper to run. Each property includes solar panels that will supply approximately 30% of electric use, electric vehicle charging points, top-grade insulation in the walls and floor and innovative features such as bee bricks and bat roost points to support biodiversity.
The first residents are expected to move in next month.
Cllr Tom Hollis, Ashfield District Council’s Executive Lead for Strategic Housing and Climate Change, said:
“Hardwick Lane is an exceptional development providing top quality housing to those on our housing register in Ashfield.
“These new properties will be for Ashfield families, giving local people the opportunity to live in beautiful, modern and affordable homes within the area they call home.
“This is the largest development we have had in Ashfield and they are stunning houses. We are proud to see the properties nearing completion and I can’t wait for residents to be able to start moving in.”
Lindum Group director Richard Shaw said:
“We’re really pleased with how the project at Sutton-in-Ashfield has progressed, and it’s great to be nearing completion.
“Working closely with Ashfield District Council, we’ve been able to bring forward a high-quality development that meets local housing needs.
“Collaboration has been key to the scheme’s success, and we’ve been pleased to work alongside a strong network of local subcontractors and suppliers who have played a vital role in delivering these homes.
“Their expertise and commitment have helped ensure the project has run smoothly from start to finish.
“Beyond the construction itself, we’ve also focused on creating a positive and lasting impact in the community through a range of social value initiatives. From supporting local employment and training opportunities to engaging with schools and community groups, we’re pleased to have contributed a legacy that extends well beyond the build.
“A great example of this is Harry Whitby, who joined the site on work experience from college. During his time with us, he impressed subcontractor Alpha Joinery so much that they offered him a full apprenticeship.
“It’s particularly rewarding to see how providing that initial work experience opportunity directly led to Harry securing his role, as the connection wouldn’t have been made without his time on site.”
