Ashfield District Council unanimously supports motion to protect Whyburn Farm and Misk Hills

Ashfield District Council has unanimously backed a motion to protect Whyburn Farm and the surrounding Misk Hills area in Hucknall, following overwhelming public support for preserving the greenbelt land.

The motion, brought forward at the Full Council meeting on 29 September, commits the Council to formally request Government support and funding to establish a Country Park at Whyburn Farm. It also calls on the local MP to take meaningful action to help secure the future of the site.

The Council recognised the strength of feeling among Hucknall residents and the importance of safeguarding the area’s natural environment for future generations.

Councillor Lee Waters, who proposed the motion, said:

"The people of Hucknall have spoken, this is the time to work together across parties to deliver what Hucknall wants."

The motion was passed with full cross-party support, reflecting a united commitment to protecting Hucknall’s countryside.
