Ashfield offers the cheapest garden waste subscription in Nottinghamshire
Ashfield District Council’s popular garden waste collection service is returning for the 2026 season, offering the cheapest subscription in Nottinghamshire.
With the price frozen again at £35 for the first bin, residents can enjoy convenient kerbside collections from March to December, helping keep gardens tidy throughout the growing season. Subscribers receive a brown‑lidded garden waste bin, suitable for:
- Grass cuttings
- Hedge trimmings
- Leaves
- Prunings and twigs
- Plants and weeds
- Cut flowers
To support households with larger gardens, additional garden waste bins remain available for £20 each.
Residents are reminded that soil, turf, stones, rubble, plant pots, food waste, timber, ash, and DIY waste must not be placed in the garden waste bin. Bins containing these items cannot be emptied, and routine checks are carried out to ensure correct use.
Thousands of Ashfield residents already benefit from the service, reducing unnecessary trips to the recycling centre and supporting a cleaner, greener district. With demand continuing to grow, the Council encourages households to secure their subscription early.
Cllr Helen‑Ann Smith, Deputy Leader and Executive Leader for Parks and Environmental Services, said: “We’re proud to offer the cheapest garden waste subscription in Nottinghamshire, and freezing the price for 2026 reinforces our commitment to providing great value.
Residents get a dependable, convenient service at a cost that’s hard to beat.”
Garden waste collections run from March to December, and residents can sign up at any point during the season, though the cost remains the same.
