Big Ashfield Spring Clean back next week!
Ashfield District Council is launching the 8th annual Big Ashfield Spring Clean (BASC) next week, continuing its commitment to making Ashfield a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant place to live, work, and visit. Beginning week commencing 2 March 2026, the month‑long programme will bring together residents, community groups, councillors, and council teams for coordinated litter picks and the return of the ever‑popular Flying Skips.
The initiative gives residents the chance to dispose of excess bagged waste, toys, and bric‑a‑brac at convenient pop‑up skip locations across the district. A free bulky waste collection scheme will also reopen in April.
Flying Skip Locations & Schedule
Flying Skips will operate on Saturdays throughout March, rotating between Kirkby & Rurals, Hucknall, and Sutton. Residents are encouraged to arrive early and bring only accepted items.
Important Note:
Soft furnishings and upholstered furniture cannot be accepted at Flying Skips due to legislation (e.g., mattresses, sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, office chairs). These can instead be booked through the free bulky waste collection service that opens in April.

We encourage everyone to get involved, whether by joining a litter pick, using the Flying Skips responsibly, or simply taking pride in their neighbourhood and keeping it clean and green this spring. We all know 'Keep Britain Tidy', well let's start with Ashfield.”
