Big Ashfield Spring Clean is back for 2026
Ashfield is gearing up for a major refresh as the Big Ashfield Spring Clean returns for 2026. Since 2018, the Big Spring Clean has helped residents clear excess waste, keep areas looking their best, and boost pride across the district.
This year’s programme begins week commencing 2 March 2026, when the first flying skips arrive in Kirkby and the rural areas.
Residents will once again be able to take advantage of free bulky waste collections and the return of the much‑loved flying skips. Throughout the Big Spring Clean, the Council’s waste advisers will be out across the district, offering guidance, answering questions, and leading community litter picks.
The flying skips give residents a convenient way to dispose of excess household waste, toys, small furniture, and bric‑a‑brac at a series of easy to access locations — helping everyone get ready for a cleaner, tidier spring.
The bin lorries will continue to visit communities across the district over the following weeks, giving residents in Sutton, Kirkby, Hucknall, and the rural areas the chance to dispose of unwanted items at no cost.

“Every year, the Spring Clean shows just how much our residents care about their communities. The flying skips and free bulky waste collections make a real difference, helping people clear out unwanted items safely and responsibly.
“We’re proud to deliver this popular programme for its ninth year and remain committed to keeping Ashfield clean, green, and a place we can all be proud of.”
Last year, the Council collected around 129 tonnes of waste during the Big Spring Clean.
