Chair of Hucknall Neighbourhood Board announced
An independent panel have appointed the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Hucknall Neighbourhood Board.
It was announced in May that Hucknall has been awarded £20 million from the government’s Pride in Place funding. As part of this process, a neighbourhood board must be established which make strategic decisions about where to spend the money.
13 people applied for the voluntary position, with Paddy Tipping being successfully appointed as the Chair. Paddy Tipping is a strong champion for Hucknall and has been active in Hucknall for over 30 years, serving the town as both a Member of Parliament and Police and Crime Commissioner in that time. The Vice-Chair has been named as passionate advocate for the Town, Revd Rachael Burn, of St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Hucknall.
The Hucknall Neighbourhood Board will play a fundamental role in shaping the vision for Hucknall and how the funding is spent. The application form is now live on the Council’s website for anyone who is interested in becoming involved with the programme.
Councillor John Wilmott, Ward Member for Hucknall Central said:
“The Chair of the Hucknall Neighbourhood Board will play a key strategic role, acting as a trusted and impartial voice who can bring together residents, community groups, partners and stakeholders to shape a shared vision for the future of Hucknall Westville.
“We are looking forward to working with Paddy Tipping on the recruitment of the board members and the future projects to come out of the funding. We encourage anyone who is interested in unlocking the potential of Hucknall to apply. We need people who have the community at heart, and who aren’t afraid to make a difference.”
Michelle Welsh MP, said
“Paddy Tipping and Rachael Burn will be a formidable duo for Hucknall, both bringing unique strengths and qualities to the roles. They understand that the best results come from working with the community. I know that both Paddy and Rachael will listen to local residents and the board to ensure Hucknall gets the investment and opportunities it deserves.”
