Community champions and businesses celebrated at the Discover Ashfield Awards 2025
It was night filled with celebration as those who go above and beyond across Ashfield came together for the Discover Ashfield Awards 2025.
Now in its sixth year, the awards, sponsored by Specsavers Sutton, celebrated the fantastic people, organisations and businesses within Ashfield and their achievements over the past 12 months.
Discover Ashfield, alongside Ashfield District Council, hosted the event at Kirkby Leisure Centre. Businesses taking home awards on the night included ECS Engineering, Team Prom and Nana's Personalised Gifts.
Community champions recognised included Rose Severn who tirelessly works to support veterans across Ashfield and April Hunt who made sure nearly 100 people in Huthwaite were not alone on Christmas Day.
Vanessa Oxspring was remembered with a Special Recognition award for a career in arts and cultural spanning over 25 years. Angus Charlie Evans, who was born sleeping at 24 weeks, was also remembered with a Special Recognition award. His parents Kirsty and Scott Evans have raised over £10,000 to donate cold cots to King’s Mill Hospital.
Cllr Paul Grafton, Chairman of Ashfield District Council, said:
“It was a fantastic night once again and great to see so many inspiring people come together for a night of celebrating all they have achieved.
“A huge congratulations to all of our winners, such worthy recipients of an award for all they have done for Ashfield. They are all a shining example of why Ashfield is a wonderful place to live, work and study.”
