Community Learning Grants up for grabs in Kirkby
Community organisations helping residents gain valuable skills to help secure jobs are being urged to apply for a learning grant.
Ashfield District Council, working with the Kirkby Safe and Happy Subgroup, has £20,000 available through the Kirkby Pride in Place Community Learning Grant scheme in 2026/27.
These grants are available to organisations that help develop skills for the workplace, prepare those in education to progress to the next level, support with essential skills such as English, maths and digital and improve health and wellbeing to build confidence and strengthen community integration.
This Community Learning Grant programme is designed to support local, community-led learning delivering positive outcomes for Kirkby residents. They aim to provide a stepping stone onto the skills and education ladder, building confidence to access further skills and training as a result.
Cllr Matthew Relf, Ashfield District Council’s Executive Lead Member for Growth, Regeneration and Local Planning, said:
“These organisations are vital in helping people across Kirkby gain the qualifications they need to help support getting them into employment. We have so many fantastic places supporting residents across Kirkby and these grants will help them continue their efforts and see more people land jobs.
“I would urge all of those who could be eligible for a grant to get in touch and find out more about how we can help.”
Dianne Holmes, of ATTFE College, said:
“The Kirkby Neighbourhood Board is delighted to be able announce the news of the Community Learning Grants. Community Learning provides a range of benefits including developing life skills, improving employability skills as well as positively impacting on wellbeing and reconnecting communities.
“We hope that this new grant opportunity will provide a positive impact for residents of all ages in the Kirkby in Ashfield community, providing new and accessible opportunities for community learning.”
The closing date for applications is June 5. Find out more about applying for the grants by visiting
