Consultation launched on Ashfield District Council’s Homefinder Lettings Policy
Ashfield residents are being urged to give their views on proposed changes to the Council homes policy.
Ashfield District Council has launched its Homefinder Lettings Policy Consultation to gain feedback on proposed changes to the way it distributes its houses.
This is part of an ongoing review by Ashfield and Mansfield District Councils. The consultation comes after tenants, residents and Council partners were asked to give their views on the current policy through an online survey.
Feedback from the survey has been used to develop proposed policy changes. This includes introducing a maximum income and savings threshold to join the Housing Register, removing housing need band 5 for all new applicants and survivors of domestic abuse or care leavers do not need a local connection to be housed in Ashfield.
These proposed changes are still subject to further consultation and approval. Any agreed changes would not come into force until 1 April 2026 at the earliest.
Cllr Andy Meakin, Ashfield District Council’s Executive Lead Member for Social Housing and Assets, said:
“This is your chance to have a say on our Homefinder Lettings Policy and make your voice heard.
“These changes will make an impact on our residents so it is important they are part of the process. We have thousands of people currently waiting for homes in Ashfield so it is important our policy reflects this and the way we prioritise those needing houses.”
