Hucknall Leisure Centre has been given a reason to celebrate after being rated ‘excellent’.

Ashfield District Council is proud to announce the centre, run in partnership with Everyone Active, has received the top rating after a Quest assessment.

Quest rates leisure centres on how good they are at providing customer service. It is managed by Right Directions on behalf of Sport England.

The state-of-the-art facilities in Hucknall include a 100-station gym, three exercise studios, two swimming pools, a four-court sports hall and squash courts.

The centre has seen a rise in popularity with attendance increasing by 34 per cent since 2021.Membership has been rising year on year and public swimming lessons now stand at 1,450 per week.

Cllr Chris Huskinson, the Council’s Executive Lead for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing, said:

 “Receiving this 'excellent' accreditation is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at our leisure centres to make them facilities we can be proud of.

"This fantastic work at Hucknall Leisure Centre is just another example of how we are working to create healthy and sustainable places to promote good health and happiness so everyone in our communities can live healthier for longer.”

Simon Morgan, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said:

“We are delighted with the outcome of the Quest assessment and believe it is nothing more than the centre and its team deserve.

“The Quest scheme is very customer focused and as such, quality facilities alone will not result in an ‘excellent’ banding being secured. This is only achieved through a strong team of colleagues delivering consistently high standards of customer service to the local community they serve.”

Quest’s managing director, Caroline Constantine, said:

“Quest is such a demanding process. By meeting Quest’s high standards for ‘excellent’ centres, Hucknall Leisure Centre has shown its commitment to providing quality facilities and service to its customers.

“In these tough economic times it is more important than ever that local leisure facilities can demonstrate their value, and the Quest process helps them do just that; enabling facilities and their teams to have the quality of their work both recognised and nationally accredited, as well as showing how they measure up against national standards.”

Lammas Leisure Centre, in Sutton, was also recently rated ‘excellent’ by Quest.
