Green Flags are flying high at seven Ashfield parks
Seven stunning Ashfield parks have been recognised as among the best in the country as the Green Flags continue to fly.
Ashfield District Council is proud to once again receive the prestigious Green Flag Award at Brierley Forest Park, Huthwaite; Kings Mill Reservoir and Sutton Lawn, Sutton; Kingsway Park and Portland Park, Kirkby; Titchfield Park, Hucknall and Selston Country Park, Selston.
It comes as the internationally recognised standard for parks and green spaces celebrates its 30th year.
These Ashfield parks have achieved the award this year – a fantastic testament to the hard work, passion and dedication of the team who care for this green space, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard for visitors and residents to enjoy.
Cllr Helen-Ann Smith, Ashfield District Council’s Executive Lead for Parks and Environmental Services, said:
“We have stunning parks here in Ashfield and we are so proud to have received seven Green Flags once again. We have invested heavily in our parks and have teams who do an incredible job of looking after them and keeping them clean and tidy.
“They also play host to fantastic events such as Ashfield Show and Hucknall Fest and are popular with our residents as a place to enjoy connecting with nature and for our young people to play.
“Now is the perfect time to enjoy our parks through the summer holidays.”

“Parks are essential public spaces that support our wellbeing, our communities and our economy. Yet for millions of people, particularly in the most deprived areas, local parks simply don’t feel safe or welcoming.
“With public services under pressure, investing in parks is not a luxury, it’s a practical, preventative solution and one of the most visible ways to improve people’s quality of life.
“Ashfield District Council has shown what can be achieved when parks are properly supported and managed. As we celebrate 30 years of the Green Flag Award, we want every community to have access to green spaces like this that are safe, welcoming and maintained to a high standard.

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under contract from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
