Healthy Goals launches at Kirkby Leisure Centre
Teenagers and adults can now improve their fitness for free in Kirkby.
Healthy Goals, a new health and wellbeing initiative, has been launched at Kirkby Leisure Centre by Nottingham Forest Community Trust.
The centre, run by Everyone Active on behalf of Ashfield District Council, is offering free, accessible fitness and wellbeing sessions for young people and adults led by the Trust.
Healthy Goals is designed to reduce health inequalities by making it easier for people to access regular physical activity, mental health support and positive social connection.
The programme will offer weekly sessions, giving visitors the chance to take part in high-energy exercise, wellbeing activities and team-based challenges.
Cllr Chris Huskinson, Ashfield District Council’s Executive Lead for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing, said:
“It is programmes like this which help more residents live healthier and happier lives and I am proud to see this available to the people of Kirkby.
“Healthy activities like this should be on offer to everyone and this is a great way to make our leisure centres available to more people.”
Health Goals is funded by the Premier League, the Professional Footballers’ Association and supported by Public Health teams within Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
It aims to improve both physical and mental health for teenagers and adults while removing cost and access barriers.
Simon Morgan, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said:
“We are incredibly proud to work with Nottingham Forest Community Trust to help more people from across the local community to get active.
“This fantastic programme allows people to improve their health and wellbeing for free in the state-of-the-art Kirkby Leisure Centre, a brilliant opportunity which we urge people to get involved in.”
Calum Osborne, CEO of Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said:
“At Nottingham Forest Community Trust, health and wellbeing is a core part of our strategy. We are committed to tackling health inequalities and ensuring that people in our communities have the right support to live healthier, happier lives.
“Healthy Goals reflects our ambition to use the power of football and sport to create real, lasting impact in people’s lives. By working with our funding partners and local authorities, we can deliver programmes that are not only accessible but also make a meaningful difference to both physical and mental health.”
