MakerSpace Ashfield opening
MakerSpace Ashfield, based on High Pavement in Sutton, is hosting a grand opening event on Sunday 7 June from 11am.
The community-led space in High Pavement House is opening to the public with building tours available from 11am, followed by the official opening at 1pm. The event will provide an opportunity for interested people to ask questions to the MakerSpace committee members who are experts in their craft.
MakerSpace Ashfield is a communal workshop space, the first of its kind outside of Nottingham, and allows members access to a range of professional tools and equipment for woodworking, metalworking, textiles, printmaking, CNC, 3D printers and a podcast studio.
Ashfield District Council funded the project from it’s Future High Streets Fund in 2021 and helped establish the committee that now solely runs the MakerSpace.
Cllr Dale Grounds, Chairman of Ashfield District Council, who will be officially opening the MakerSpace said
“I am extremely pleased to that MakerSpace is opening to the public, it is a fantastic facility that will provide endless opportunities for our community. If you don’t have the space or the means to access specialist equipment at home to do a hobby, work on a project or to learn a new skill, the MakerSpace is the place to go. It’s such a unique concept and I know it will be well used here in Ashfield.”
