More than £220,000 awarded to Leamington
Leamington has been awarded a huge funding boost to enhance community facilities, health, wellbeing and safety for those who call it home.
ATTFE College, on behalf of the Leamington Community Partnership and Ashfield District Council, has been awarded £220,634 from the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA)’s Community Development Fund.
On top of this, it was also awarded £8,000 for small community grants to help with the development of emerging community groups in Leamington.
The funding will be used to enhance community facilities, including Willetts Court, and increase the number of activities and support services.
This includes a community kitchen led by Ashfield Voluntary Action, better access to financial support through Central Nottinghamshire Citizen’s Advice and improved support for people living with long term health conditions or disability to get the right advice and guidance.
ATTFE College will deliver skills development and learning, linked to improving the look and feel of Leamington, increasing volunteering and social action. The funding will also increase the number of regular activities happening, providing creative and active opportunities for children, young people and families.
This has been made possible thanks to the engagement of residents, who have shared their thoughts and ideas as to what is needed in Leamington.
Cllr Sarah Madigan, who represents Leamington of Ashfield District Council, said:
“This is fantastic news. Leamington is a resilient community with a strong sense of identity and clear opportunities for improvement.
“It is great to see so many organisations working together with the residents of Leamington, and alongside this targeted investment, there is a real opportunity to deliver meaningful change - particularly in strengthening health, financial security, and opportunities for residents. We thank the residents who have helped to shape this funding bid as they are key to its success.”
Simon Martin, Executive Leader of ATTFE, said:
“We are delighted that ATTFE, Ashfield District Council and key community-facing partners have this opportunity to improve the quality of life on the Leamington estate.
“This project will enhance the great work that has already started with Ashfield District Council, the Leamington Partnership and local residents to maximise community cohesion, opportunity and life chances.”
Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward said:
“This funding from the Community Development Fund is a vote of confidence in Leamington and shows what can be achieved when local people and organisations work together. It reflects the ideas and priorities residents have shared about what the community needs and puts real investment behind them.
“The Fund will help improve local facilities, increase activities, and make it easier for people to get support for their health, wellbeing, and everyday needs. It’s about making practical improvements that really matter, whilst enabling people to focus on their aspirations as well as their needs.
“I want to thank everyone who helped shape this bid, especially local residents. This is a great example of how investment and teamwork can bring real, lasting benefits to a community.”
