Nearly two million visits to Ashfield leisure centres
Ashfield leisure centres saw nearly two million visits as more residents made the most of what they have to offer.
Kirkby, Hucknall and Lammas leisure centres have seen a rise in members attending over the last year, from April 2025 to April 2026.
Ashfield District Council, working in partnership with award-winning operator Everyone Active, has revealed that there were 1,736,116 visits to the centres over the last year, with active members growing by 27%.
The social value generated was £6,363,960 which will be put back into the economic, social, and environmental wellbeing of the community.
The leisure centres have also provided 480 hours of free space for community groups and partners, with Kirkby Leisure Centre providing 21 community events including the health and wellbeing roadshows.
In total, 128,345 children visited for activities including the gym, swimming, ice skating or soft play.
Cllr Chris Huskinson, Ashfield District Council’s Executive Lead Member for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing, said:
“Our leisure centres are a real asset to our communities and have so much to offer. There are experts on hand to help with your health and wellbeing needs, whether that is the best exercise to help manage a medical condition or wanting to train like the athletes do.
“It is great to see that more people are now visiting our leisure centres and they have become a part of their health and wellbeing journey.”
Simon Morgan, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said:
“We are proud to provide a wide variety of facilities and activities at our leisure centres in Ashfield, allowing local people to improve their physical health and mental well-being.
“Supporting community initiatives and events is hugely important to us, and we look forward to continuing this over the next 12 months and beyond. No matter what your age, interests or abilities, there is something for you at your local Everyone Active leisure centre.”
