Potential changes to parking in Ashfield coming
Ashfield District Council is seeking views on their proposed changes to car parking in Ashfield including increased free hours at Kings Mill Reservoir.
The consultation, which is open until 27 March 2026, has several proposed changes to the current Parking Order to improve the car parking offer throughout the District. The proposed changes include adding Sutton Lawn and Kingsway Park (including the extended car park) car parks to the order with 6 hours free parking, to allow the Council to enforce against inconsiderate parking.
Kings Mill Reservoir could benefit from an increase in free parking from 1 hour to 6 hours to complement the new developments at the site.
Introducing permits for the car parks at Darlison Court, Byron Business Centre, Kingsway Lodge and Ada Lovelace House, to ensure that only site users can park, are also part of the proposals.
Any objections or representations can be made by email to the Executive Director, Operations on charles.edwards@ashfield.gov.uk.
Cllr Matthew Relf, Executive Lead Member for Growth, Regeneration and Local Plan said
“We listened to visitors to Kings Mill Res who said with so much now on offer there that one hour of free parking just isn’t enough. We are also passionate about continuing to be one of the very few UK councils that offer 2 hours free parking in our town centres to encourage people to call in and support the fantastic local businesses that we have. But we aren’t complacent, we want to hear from you. This consultation is everyone’s opportunity to feedback on these proposals and let us know what you think.”
