Remembering David Shooter

Today we remember former Councillor and Honorary Alderman David Shooter as family, friends and colleagues gather to celebrate his life.

David dedicated 16 years of service to Ashfield District Council, serving four consecutive terms between 1987 and 2003, including as Chairman from 1993 to 1994.

His contribution to the district left a lasting legacy, from officially opening Brierley Forest Park in 1994 to having the park's Chairman's Bridge renamed Shooter's Bridge in his honour in 2021.

In recognition of his outstanding service to the district, David was awarded the title of Honorary Alderman in 2019.

Our thoughts are with David's family and friends today. His commitment to Ashfield and its communities will not be forgotten.
