Titchfield Park Sports Hub plans submitted

Ashfield District Council has submitted the planning application for a new changing facility on Titchfield Park, Kirkby, as part of the Titchfield Park Sports Hub project.

The proposed changing pavilion, which will replace the current facility, features an accessible ramp, an accessible toilet and shower room, two changing rooms, showers, kitchen facilities and a meeting space. Sustainability and biodiversity are high on the agenda with a green roof, solar panels, energy efficient lighting and water heating systems, and bat and bird boxes included in the design of the building.

External improvements surrounding the pavilion include raised planter beds, cycle parking, boot cleaning facilities, external lighting and new footpaths to allow direct access to the sports court.

The Titchfield Park Sports Hub project will see over £600,000 invested into the park, paying for upgrading the existing netball courts with new surfacing and energy efficient floodlights, resurfacing the footpaths, and the new changing rooms.

Most of the funding is coming from a portion of Kirkby’s £20 million Pride in Place Fund, as approved by the Kirkby Neighbourhood Board.

Cllr Matthew Relf, Executive Lead Member for Growth, Regeneration and Local Planning, said:

Titchfield Park, Kirkby, is used by several established clubs for netball, football and bowls and this planned upgrade will increase capacity for the clubs, encourage more people to get active and increase community pride in the park”.
