Town centre ban for disruptive criminal
A man has been banned from parts of Sutton in Ashfield for persistent disruptive and antisocial behaviour.
Angus Mason threatened and abused staff at Ashfield District Council after he was found living at an address and claiming it was his permanent residency, despite not being the tenant on the tenancy.
Mason, who was also responsible for a number of criminal offences, has now been ordered by a court to stay away from numerous streets, alleyways and pavements in Sutton Town Centre and the Carsic and Leamington estates.
A judge at Mansfield County Court imposed the Injunction Order following a hearing at the end of October.
If the 42-year-old breaches any of its conditions he will be arrested.
Cllr John Wilmott, Executive Lead for Community Safety at Ashfield District Council said:
“This individual has been causing issues for residents over a number of years, and has also caused problems in the wider community and to employees at ADC.
“I’m pleased the court has agreed Mason’s persistent antisocial behaviour is unacceptable and I hope this shows residents that when we say we will do everything we can to clamp down on these issues, we really do mean this.
“These things do take a lot of time and work behind the scenes that residents don’t get to see but I hope this now brings some peace back to the community.”
Under conditions imposed by the court, Mason is not allowed to:
- Enter, remain, loiter or sleep on the road, pavements, alleyways, front and back gardens and the communal areas of Brookhill Court Flats, Brook Street, Sutton in Ashfield including 5 Brookhill Court.
