Woman banned from Portland Square
A Sutton resident felt the consequences of breaching an injunction at the end of April and was arrested for entering Portland Square, Sutton.
The resident was, and still is, subject to an Injunction Order which bans her from entering, remaining, loitering or sleeping on the roads, pavements or alleyways in Sutton town centre or Leamington Estate.
She was transported to Nottingham County Court and was ordered to pay £850 in costs for the breach, she also spent just under 24 hours in police custody.
The injunction remains in place until 31st December 2027 and forbids her from engaging in or threatening to engage in abusive behaviour towards residents, business owners, visitors, emergency service workers and Ashfield District Council staff, as well as entering, remaining loitering or sleeping on the road, pavements or alleyways, front and back gardens, and the communal areas of Leamington Hall Flats.
Cllr John Wilmott, Executive Lead Member for Crime Reduction and Community Safety, said
“This resident was banned from entering Portland Square for causing ASB and a nuisance to residents and businesses around the town centre. Thanks to the injunction we were able to take enforcement action against her and ensure she stays out of the town centre. We won’t hesitate to use our full powers to tackle individuals who are inflicting misery on others in Ashfield.”
