Supported housing
Ashfield District Council is revewing its current processes through a programme of reviews to take into consideration the new legislation and internal working practices in accordance with the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight Act)
The Supported Accommodation Improvement Programme aims to work collaboratively with providers to improve housing standards and ensure that the support being delivered meets the criteria for Housing Benefit.
To improve housing standards, Environmental Health Officers will undertake inspections of supported accommodation properties to ensure they are safe, suitable, and free from significant hazards.
To ensure that the support being provided meets exempt accommodation criteria, officers may also speak with residents as part of the review process. This will help us assess whether the support offered is appropriate, meets individual needs, and is being delivered to a satisfactory standard.
Our approach is to work positively with providers and residents to drive improvements and promote good-quality supported accommodation across the district.
