Selective licensing
On 25 July 2022, a new Selective Licensing Scheme went live in parts of Stanton Hill and Sutton Central (New Cross).
The designation is expected to run until 25 July 2027, during this period privately rented homes in the designated areas are required to be licensed.
It is an offence to be in control of or manage a property that is not licensed where one is required.
The Council offered a discretionary grace period for applications to be made, which ended on 25 October 2022. If you manage or own a property in the designated area and have still not applied for a licence, you should apply as soon as possible.

A scheme guide is now available to advise property owners, landlords and tenants about how the scheme will work, their obligations and responsibilities and what they to do next. Also, details of private rented homes that do not require a licence and how to apply for a licence exemption can be found in the scheme guide.
A copy of the pubic notice publicising the schemes is available to view.
