Hucknall Westville Pride in Place
Hucknall, will receive £20 million investment over the next 10 years through the Government’s Pride in Place programme. This funding will support projects that improve everyday life from high streets, housing and jobs to health, safety, transport and opportunities for local people.
At the heart of this programme is a commitment to:
- stronger communities
- thriving places
- local people shaping their future
Have your say
The first phase of engagement for the programme is now open, giving residents, businesses, community groups and local organisations the opportunity to help shape investment priorities for the next decade.
We want to hear what matters most to you, what is working well in the area, and where future investment could make the biggest difference. Your feedback will help inform priorities for the next decade and ensure that funding is directed towards the issues that are most important to local communities.
The survey is available to complete, alongside a range of engagement activities. Feedback gathered through this process will play an important role in determining how the funding is invested and ensuring it delivers lasting benefits for Hucknall.
The first phase of the survey will close on 18 September 2026. Once the survey results and wider engagement feedback have been collated and reviewed, a further phase of engagement will take place. This will include another survey and further engagement activities seeking views on a proposed list of investment priorities, informed by the outcome of the first phase of engagement.
The results of both surveys and engagement activity will inform the Pride in Place Plan, which will be agreed by the Hucknall Neighbourhood Board and submitted to the Government by February 2027. The Plan will set out the investment priorities for Hucknall over the next decade and will continue to be shaped by community engagement throughout the delivery of the Plan to ensure it is aligned with the needs of Hucknall’s communities.
Progress update
Positive progress has already been made in establishing the programme locally.
Following an independent recruitment process, Paddy Tipping has been appointed as Chair of the Pride in Place programme. Paddy is a strong champion for Hucknall and has been active in the town for more than 30 years, serving as both a Member of Parliament and as Nottinghamshire's Police and Crime Commissioner.
Reverend Rachael Burn, from St Peter and St Paul's Church in Hucknall, has been appointed as Vice-Chair. Reverend Burn is a passionate advocate for the town and brings extensive community knowledge and experience to the role.
Interest from the local community has also been encouraging. Expressions of interest were recently invited from residents, organisations and stakeholders who would like to be involved in shaping and delivering the programme. Applications are currently being reviewed, and all applicants will receive an update soon.
Developing the programme
Work is continuing to establish a dedicated Neighbourhood Board, which will guide the programme and ensure local priorities are reflected in decision making.
As part of this process, the boundary of the funded area is currently being reviewed to ensure it accurately reflects the area and communities that will benefit from the investment.
A key upcoming milestone is the submission of the proposed Neighbourhood Board membership and boundary information to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) by 28 August.
Stay involved
This is the beginning of a long-term programme for Hucknall.
Once the first phase of engagement has closed on 18 September, the feedback will be analysed and a further phase of engagement will follow in October, to seek views on a on proposed investment priorities shaped by the outcome of the first phase of engagement.
Other key milestones include submission of the Neighbourhood Board membership to Government by 28 August and the submission of the Pride in Place Plan by February 2027. Following submission, community engagement will continue during the delivery phase.
Further updates and opportunities to get involved will be shared as the programme progresses.
