Hucknall play and leisure improvements consultation
Ashfield District Council is seeking views on the proposed extension to the car park at Hucknall Leisure Centre and improvements to the play area at Albert Street Recreation Ground.
We are very excited to present proposals to expand the capacity of the car park and improve access to the leisure centre. As well as the additional proposals for replacing the play equipment which has reached the end of its useful life.
The aim of this investment is to create a facility which will benefit Hucknall in the long term, enhancing leisure and play provision to support the town as a great place to live.
We are sharing proposals for these improvements with partners, stakeholders and local residents to seek their views before submitting a planning application for the car park expansion in early 2026.
The plans for both the Hucknall Leisure Centre car park expansion and the new play area at Albert Street Recreation Ground can be viewed on this page.

Albert Street Recreation Ground improvements
The expansion of Hucknall Leisure Centre provides the Council with a unique opportunity to redesign the play area on Albert Street Recreation Ground. Some equipment has reached its end of life so will be replaced, others will be moved into new positions. This is your chance to shape what you would like to see here for your family and children to enjoy for years to come.
