Under the Gambling Act 2005

The type of machines that require licensing by the council are commonly referred to as one arm bandits or fruit machines such as those found in Family Entertainment Centres (amusement arcades), Pubs, Clubs and unlicensed Family Entertainment Centres.

The categories of Gaming Machines have been defined by maximum stakes and prizes.

Category A B and C are adult only gaming machines.

Category D have no age restrictions.
