If any item of domestic seating is upholstered, we will have to assume that it contains POPs.
This includes:
These items can no longer be collected in normal bulky waste collections but have to be collected separately, but they are still included in the free bulky waste collections (if you are a qualifying household). If you have requested for several bulky items to be collected, the collections will be split between the non-upholstered and upholstered items.
We cannot give a specific day for collection of upholstered bulky waste items as these items have to be collected on a box van; we have only 2 of these vehicles, which are also used for other purposes.
Collection of POPs items can take up to 21 days from when you make your request, but these times may be much shorter dependant on demand for the service.
When you have placed your request for a collection, please present your upholstered item for collect immediately after you have made your request, to avoid your item being missed for collection.

If you have a lot of items needing to be collected please phone us or email pictures of the waste to environment@ashfield.gov.uk. We’ll provide a quote for collection.
