To mark World Mental Health Day on the 10th of October, Well into Arts are working in partnership with Ashfield District Council to provide a new Wellness for Women programme.
The programme will be available for mothers who are struggling with mental health and self-confidence after having children. The concept focusses on the use of arts and crafts activities to create conversations and form long-lasting friendships along the way. Local mum Amanda Waring, who will be leading the programme found that she benefitted from speaking to other like-minded mums in group settings such as these and hopes that she can help others like her too.
Councillor Tom Hollis, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing said: “We are proud to be working with Well into Arts to support this programme. It gives a chance for mums to get together to share stories, communicate with like-minded people, break down barriers and share support with one another.”
Wellness for Women will start on 15th January 2020 at New Cross Community Centre, Sutton in Ashfield with a six week programme available for mums to get involved. Each weekly session will include a different arts related activity including mindfulness, dressing for your shape, jewellery making and crafts. A crèche will also be provided. All activities will be free of charge and places will need to be booked in advance.
