This week Ashmere Care Homes (a Partnership) admitted its guilt of failing to ensure the health and safety of residents at Sutton Court care home in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
The case arose as a result of a lengthy investigation following a choking incident which occurred on 13 July 2013 at the Sutton care home. Carmen Barker, an 80-year-old resident with dementia who had no teeth or dentures, died after being provided with a meal which was not suitable for her needs. The partnership has accepted that its failings were a significant cause of the fatality.
The sentencing hearing will take place on 2 and 3 November 2017 at Nottingham Crown Court.
