Friday 24 April 2020 Ashfield District Council says final farewell to its beloved former Chairman, Cllr Anthony Brewer

Today Ashfield District Council said its final farewell to its beloved former Chairman, Cllr Anthony Brewer.

As the funeral cortege stopped outside the Council’s Urban Road offices, strict social distancing rules were applied as ADC Chairman, Cllr Andy Meakin, Vice Chairman, Arnie Hankin, Leader, Cllr Jason Zadrozny and Council Members and Officers came out to say their final goodbyes.

Abide with me was played, followed by a short exerpt of Captain Birdseye, a nickname he was affectionally known as.

As the cortege headed towards Mansfield Crematorium a round of applause sent him on his final journey, with many residents lining the streets to pay their final respects.

Tony was much loved by all at Ashfield District Council. He will be missed and never forgotten.

Tony was also well known throughout the community. He made a real difference, had a huge impact in the communities he worked in and was a true champion of the Armed Forces.
