Council tenant evicted following continued Anti-Social Behaviour

Monday 15 July 2019 Council tenant evicted following continued Anti-Social Behaviour

An Ashfield District Council tenant has been evicted following multiple complaints of anti-social behaviour and criminal activity.

Laura Gillespie of 57 Northwood Avenue, Sutton appeared in Mansfield County Court where the Council was awarded outright possession of the property.

Following reports of anti-social behaviour including drug misuse, shouting, swearing, illegal abstraction of electricity and victimising vulnerable people Gillespie was served with a Notice of Seeking Possession by the Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour and Nuisance Team.

The Team attempted to resolve matters without the need for enforcement action however following multiple warnings her behaviour did not improve.

Cllr Daniel Williamson, Cabinet member for Community Safety said “We take breaches of tenancy seriously and will not tolerate tenants committing crimes at our properties.”

“The Council can and will take enforcement action to address issues that continue to have a detrimental impact to others.”
