Residents joined Ashfield District Council and Everyone Active to promote and celebrate Sutton-in-Ashfield’s partnership with an interactive outdoor physical activity App.
The Council and leading leisure provider Everyone Active have teamed up with interactive mobile app, Sprytar. The app aims to encourage and engage the local community who may not have access to a local leisure centre.
Sprytar is the first augmented reality app specifically designed for destination parks and visitor attractions.
Now available to download across Apple and Android devices, Sprytar has incorporated the Sutton Lawn and Kings Mill Reservoir layouts to its park choices.
Local Ashfield residents have two circular guided trail options to try and complete – a 1K fitness trail at Sutton Lawn or a 2km walk, run or cycle route at Kings Mill Reservoir.
Sprytar will also deliver push notifications to engage those undertaking their chosen route to complete additional exercises; such as lunges and high knees.
And to celebrate the launch of the new app, Council Leader Jason Zadrozny and staff from Ashfield District Council and Everyone Active joined together to complete one of the routes on Saturday 10 November.
Councillor Zadrozny said: “This Council sees health and wellbeing as an important responsibility so I am looking forward to seeing the app being used. Taking advantage of this kind of technology will enable even more people to have access to physical activities in the community.
“Users of the app will have a pleasant setting to work on their personal fitness by following the routes in our beautiful award-winning parks and open spaces.”
