Harold Farr Bequest Fund 2017/18

The Council was bequeathed a sum of money by the late Harold Farr. Mr Farr’s main interests involved helping young people to achieve their aspirations in sports or cultural activities. In order that this can be reflected, it has been decided to allocate money from the Bequest Fund annually. The general principles agreed for the distribution of this fund are detailed below.

(a) For sports related funding:- Young people aged 18 or under, on 30 November 2017, residing in the Ashfield area, are invited to apply for financial assistance in respect of any undertaking which aids or promotes the participation in sporting activities.

Applicants should request a nomination form by emailing c.hallam@ashfield.gov.uk for the category of Junior Sports Person or Junior Disabled Sports Person for the Active Ashfield Awards 2017.

(b) For cultural related funding:- Young people under the age of 25, residing in the Ashfield area, are invited to apply for financial assistance in respect of any undertaking which aids or promotes the participation in cultural activities.

Applicants should apply by letter or email with details, in no more than 200 words, of their proposal, potential funding requirements and information on achievements’ this year to support their application to:-

All applications should be received by 30 September 2017. The Panel will consider all applications on merit and will make recommendations for a final decision by the Leader of the Council. The amount of funding granted may depend on the number and quality of nominations.
